He sends it to Alfonso, who rushes, hysterically gratified, to his side. But the Cid has been hit by a stray arrow. Attended by Chimene, he hides the wound from his men and prepares a final bid to drive the Moors from Spain. |

what's the secret to perfect straight hair?
how do girls do it? what’s the secret to shiny, straight, frizz-free hair? im willing to invest in some hair products but i dont know which ones to use… when i blow dry my hair, it gets a little bit frizzy and when i straighten it, the frizz doesn’t go away… my hair is about medium length and naturally straightish… i see the girls with their perfect frizz free perfectly straight hair and im just like "aah!" so what products work? or anything else i can do?
try a chemical straightener, also called a "relaxer". you’re gonna want help with it though. it’s simliar to a perm, cept it does the opposite. you can do it at home. it’s something i use periodically. follow the instructions really to-the-letter though.
oh and, other than that, just experiment. what if you let your hair air-dry, and then straighten it? have you tried that?

I have VERY straight hair but when i wake up its a frizzy nightmare!
i sware to you the CHI is like straightner heaven! <3! haha
ok its expensive ($145-250) but its wroth it! plus after shower comb it sraight and add gel.
But i promise im the girl who has VERY straight shiney hair but without the CHI it would look a mess!

i say it is a straightener.chi preferably but if you get one make sure to have things to protect the hair from frying and trim ends at least every 2 months if not more..good luck!:)

Apply a straightening gel before blow drying - dry with your head upside down using a brush to pull out the kinks…. wait about 10-15 mins before using the Straightener, in the meantime use a hotair tool creme …. after straightening use a shiny / frizz control serum avoiding the roots (it will look greasy)
I have curly hair and this is my routine - always pin straight non frizzy….
Another tip - if you blow dry slightly and let air dry then straighten it may help with the frizz

Senior year, American foreign exchange..?
Hey everyone.
I really need your help as this really is a hard decision and I would like to hear what you would have to say.
I am currently 16 years old, will be 17 later this year.
I am an american citizen, and have always wanted to live in america and attend an american college.
I currently study in New Zealand and I am form 6 (year 12) We start school in February and finish in December. We have 5 years of highschool.
This year, I really want to go apply to an american highschool for august 2010, which would mean it would be my senior year in an american highschool.
I’ve wanted to do an exchange for many reasons being, I want to have this experience, to see what it is like, to see the differences and to experience a year in an American Highschool.
I do have a few questions however,
- Would i still be able to get into college just with my senior year? I understand they take Junior year as the most important. In New Zealand we do NCEA, however that is only recognized in NZ.
- What is the likeliness of a high school accepting a US citizen from NZ to their highschool?
I have a few homestays in mind I could stay with.
I still have to talk to my school about this, also about the highschool i want to apply too. But in advance please if you could help out it would be really great.
I would miss my family and friends so so much, but I think this is a really good opportunity.
Oh and I am not with a foreign exchange programme. Because I am a citizen the NZ programs said they can’t accept me. So my parents are both thinking about possible future actions.
Please please reply, I really would like any advice or experience or stories.

My daughter is a member of AFS - It is a club/organization that sponsors foreign exchange students. You would have a sponsor family to live with in the US. I believe that the exchange students at her school are seniors this year. One of the exchange students from China was accepted to a college in the states. She stayed on a student visa.
I don’t know what the situation would be because you are an American citizen. I would think, though, that you should be able to transfer to a US school rather than come as an exchange student. I don’t think that you would have a problem finding a sponsor to house you.

For me it seems your jumping all over the place you should start old to new. Try keeping the same type of music for a couple of songs instead of changing it every song. That way everyone can dance 2 or 3 songs then sit for a while. Instead of 1 song they like they get up and dance than a different style of music they dont like sit down and back up. I dont know that my opinion.

How much is it roughly to rent a small store at garden state plaza or willowbrook mall?
I want to open a very small store at garden state plaza or willowbrook, but have no idea to what the rough estimate of pricing is. But I’m not even close to ready to contact a real estate broker.
Anyone know have any guestimates? lol…. Just wondering.
Contact a leasing rep for the management company, they should be able to give you a general idea. It also depends where in the mall you are located, would you be looking at a temp to perm (one year deal with the idea that you may get a perm space with a five year deal later)? It also depends on the type of store you are planning on opening. Will your sales be dependant on traffic already in the mall or will your store help drive traffic to the mall? How full is the mall? Does the mall currently have a store like the one you want to open? If so, the other store may have the exclusive right to sell xyz product. On the other hand, malls always are looking to add merchants in specific categories (varies by mall and tenant mix at any given time). If you are looking for something small for less than a year, call the mall office and ask to speak to the mall manager or someone in specialty leasing. Also find out when you are ready to lease if you have to pay cam/tax/ins/promo or if these items are included in rent.

I’m not sure but I guess it would depend on the location of the shop and how new the buidling is. I would guess anywhere from $600 a month to $2,000 a month. Just all depends on what you are looking for and what you need for the shop.

How many of you here miss the "back in the days" Saturday Morning cartoons ?
Like Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Smurfs, Superfriends, Batman and
Robin, Dungeons and Dragons, Muppet Babies, Garfield, Underdog,
Beetle Juice, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so much more.
These whacked out cartoons you see now are nothing more than
a waste of time. They are so uncreative, generic, and lame. It is just
that simple. I feel as though the Powers That Be, are force feeding
our children’s minds with sexual content and perversion. Just look at
the underlying images on these cartoons nowadays. It is pathetic !
What happened to the good verses evil concept. When the good guys
took on the bad guys, and won. It is not the same. Sorry guys.
DVD’s and Youtube is not enough. It is better than nothing though. But the atmosphere is dead. The traditional Saturday
Morning Cartoons format is a thing of the past. What do you think ?

I got up before 8 am today and settled for the Home shopping network.
I consider myself lucky having grown up with the super friends and scooby.
The one thing I reflection on in terms of your (Good verses Evil) is that it gives a false sense of reality. We watched these cartoons and grew into adults with an idea that good will aways win. Being a good person, doing the right thing will somehow cause your life to be good.
As an adult you can find your self in conflict trying to understand a real world that doesn’t work that way.
Today’s cartoons (at least the few they show on Saturday morning) are pathetic. They are likely done in Japan for very cheap by people that never grew up with the cartoons we did.
Also keep in mind networks like ABC and CBS don’t have the money and lock on the market they they once did. There competing against a few hundred channels now. All those advertising / commericals are now shown on all those other stations. Do you hire and pay multiple teams to put cartoons together? Kids don’t have money to buy, so what can you sale to them. Today corporation only focus on making sales.

I agree, and it’s not even Saturday mornings, it’s ALL of the cartoons now. People need to go back to the basics, a good script, VERY! few graphics and a pencil and pad.

I think it was the advent of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network that put an end to Saturday morning cartoons. It’s a shame because their cartoons are now so boring.
I can remember watching "Skooby Doo" when it first went on the air.

Almost all of the Saturday morning cartoons were only ever just vehicles to sell toys and sugary breakfast cereals to children while their exhausted parents slept in. Bugs Bunny was a great cartoon, but it pre-dated television. You have cartoons that were aired as much as two and half generations apart listed up there, too, so I think your "back in the day" is based on media-created nostalgia rather than real life memories.

Many of those cartoons are still shown in the UK, we have a channel called Boomerang which shows old cartoons like Tom and jerry, Bugs Bunny, etc all the time. And the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles turn up from time to time, as does Garfield. I haven’t seen the Muppet Babies lately, or the Smurfs, but I can’t say I want to. My sons like some of the old cartoons, they both love Tom and jerry for instance, but they also like some of the new ones, like Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebog Squarepants, and of course the Simpsons.

I agree with you.
I think The Simpsons unintentionally ruined cartoons by injecting adult themes, political messages, and sexual innuendos into a cartoon.
It’s mega success caused other cartoons to follow suit and over time, they became dirtier and dirtier. Today cartoons are pure garbage and if they existed when I was a kid, my parents wouldn’t allow me to watch them.

I’m doing a media project for IT (integrated tech) class, and I need to look for stereotypes and bias in the media. I’m trying to find stuff in popular disney shows, such as hannah montana, the suite life of zack and cody/ on deck, sonny with a chance, wizards of waverly place etc, etc. No disney movie stereotypes/ bias please, just the shows listed. (e.g. in hannah montana, brunette Miley is considered to be the average girl, who gets picked on by the school bullies, and in which when oliver finds out tht she’s Hannah, he looses his mega crush on the superstar, while hannah is an extremely adored blonde mega star etc.) Thanks in advance!

umm the only real stereotyping is that every person from the south is an over-the-top redneck. Seriously, whenever a person from the south is on any Disney show he/she is always an over the top redneck. I’m from the south and I don’t know anybody who talks the way that they do. I’m guessing that Disney finds stereotypes to be funny
